Susan Washburn
Susan Washburn has earned an international reputation for dynamic, effective training, coaching, facilitating and consulting. Her work focuses on leadership development and includes training, coaching, and consulting on communication skills,negotiation skills, team building, group dynamics, strategic planning, project management, multicultural issues, and effective organizational change. Additionally, she has developed curricula for classroom and distance learning courses on a variety of current management topics.

Susan had a successful career within the Department of Defense where she was awarded three medals for distinguished civilian service. She served as a program director in human and family programs, the director of marketing and training and as a trainer and senior advisor for the United States Navy and Marine Corps. While living in Iceland, Susan hosted an intercultural television series introducing Americans to the Icelandic culture and was a frequent quest on radio and television. She was the contributing columnist for a weekly North Carolina newspaper, where her humor and creative outlook was a popular weekly feature.

Susan holds a B.S. from the University of the State of New York, a master’s certificate in project management from The George Washington University and has completed extensive graduate work in organizational psychology and sociology. She is certified as a facilitator for the Covey Leadership Institute, Strength Deployment Inventory, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and is currently enrolled in Intensive Coach Training with Results Coaching Systems.
In 2006, Susan co-authored “Charting Your Course for Effective Communication” published by Personal Strengths Publishing. She currently resides in Annapolis, Maryland and Henderson Harbor, New York.
